Residents Reminded To Clear Natural Gas Meters Of Snow And Ice

Tue 12-4-2018

(Undated)-- Area residents are being reminded to clear snow and ice from natural gas meters.

Officials with Black Hills Energy say a build-up of ice and snow on meters can create a safety hazard and even cut off the flow of natural gas to heating equipment and other appliances.

Residents are urged to gently remove snow and ice from meters with your hands or a broom. Things like a shovel, ice pick or other sharp tools should NOT be used.

Officials say ice build-up from overhead eaves should also be removed, as it could fall and damage the meter.
