(Okoboji)-Registration for summer camps at the Dickinson County Nature Center begins March 1. KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
Registration for summer camps at the Dickinson County Nature Center gets underway March 1.
Community Relations Coordinator Kylie Roth explains. "So we have camps this year for ages 4 all the way up to 18 years old, so there's a wide variety for all different ages this summer. Our first camps will be in June. We have Kayaking Adventures, so we have a session for ages 10-12, and then a teenage section for ages 13-18. So, basically this is just a way to get kids outside and introduced to kayaking."
She adds that a full day camp has been added. "In July, we have two sessions of the Outdoor Discoveries Camp. We've been doing a couple of half-day camps the last few years, but we had some parents who are working parents ask if we could extend it to a full day camp. So, we're gonna try that out this year, Basically getting kids outside, letting them meet live animals, going for hikes, playing games, and then we finish up our camps with the Science Quest Camp August 1 for ages 8-9. Again, that's a one day, full day camp."
