Recycling Opportunities Will Once Again Be Available At This Year's Clay County Fair Powered By SMU
(Spencer)-- Some recycling opportunities will once again be available at this year's Clay County Fair. Some blue bins will be located around the grounds in which aluminum cans and plastic bottles can be placed for recycling. The effort is being made possible through a joint venture involving the fair, city of Spencer and the women's basketball team at Iowa Lakes Community College.
The city of Spencer will also have cardboard recycling bins on the grounds for vendors and non-profit groups to use. City officials say they plan to weigh the amount of recycling following the fair to compare with past fairs.
In addition, the Northern Plains Regional Planning Area is teaming with Arts On Grand and the city of Spencer for some environmental programs at the Art Barn during the fair. “How to Tame the Trash Monster!” and “Reuse-a-plooza” will be held September 11th, 13th, 15th and 17th.
The Clay County Fair powered by SMU begins tomorrow (Sat.) and runs through September 19th.
