Racial Slurs Made At A High School Softball Game Has School Officials Investigating
(Spirit Lake)-- School officials are looking into an incident in which racial slurs were directed to some members of the Storm Lake softball team during a game Monday evening in Spirit Lake.
Storm Lake Superintendent Stacey Cole says the disparaging comments were made by some occupants of a vehicle that pulled up along the third baseline. The vehicle then took off. Cole expressed her concern about the incident in a tweet following the game.
It wasn't known where the vehicle or its occupants are from.
In a statement, Spirit Lake Superintendent Dr. David Smith said such incidents absolutely won't be tolerated. He said some video is being reviewed to try to determine who's responsible.
