Pursuit Lands Man In Jail On Multiple Charges

(Estherville)-- A Spencer man faces multiple charges following a pursuit Friday evening in Estherville.
Police say it started around 10:15 p.m. when an officer observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed in the 200 block of North 6th Street in Estherville. The officer followed the vehicle to the Avera Holy Family Hospital parking lot. The driver was told to stop, but instead took off. Police pursued the vehicle through streets on the northeast side of Estherville. During the pursuit, police say the suspect vehicle struck two parked vehicles: one in the 900 block of 13th Avenue North, the other in the 1300 block of 12th Street.
Police say the pursuit continued into the county at speeds exceeding 100 mph. It eventually ended on Highway 4 south of Estherville.
Officers arrested the driver, 19-year-old Tanner Meysenburg of Spencer on charges of eluding a law enforcement vehicle, OWI 1st offense, driving under suspension, reckless driving, speeding, failure to maintain control, and 7 counts of failure to obey a stop sign.
Meysenburg was booked into the Emmet county jail and remained held on a $5,000 cash bond after appearing before a magistrate.
Estherville police were assisted by the Emmet County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
