(Okoboji)-There will be something new on the ice for this year's Winter Games, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
Iowa Lakeside Laboratory, Pearson Lakes Art Center and the Okoboji Sailing Center will hold a Winter Water Sheds event during the University of Okoboji Winter Games. Lakeside's Education Coordinator Jane Shuttleworth explains. "We're creating a new event this Winter Games called Winter Water Sheds. It's going to be like a temporary village on the ice in Little Miller's Bay in front of Lakeside Lab. We're inviting people to come up with some really interesting ideas and activities. It's inspired by something similar that takes place up in the Twin Cities, where there's all kinds of unusual fishing shacks and games and things going on."
She notes that an informational session will be held at the Pearson Lakes Art Center Thursday evening. "It's very informal, kind of question and answer. We'll have social time from 5:30 to 6, and then from 6 to 7, we'll have a little bit of a presentation and some examples. Anybody can participate, but we do wish that people would fill out a submission form so we know how many people plan to participate, and to be sure they obey all of the regulations for putting an installation on the ice."
A second session will be held on January 10 at the Pearson Lakes Art Center.
