Preliminary Estimates Indicate Jackson County Sustained More Than $6 Million In Damage In March Ice Storm

(Jackson, Mn.)-- Preliminary damage assessment numbers from spring storms were released this week by the Jackson County Emergency Management Office.

Estimated damage from flooding and the ice storm currently sits at $6.2 million for Jackson county. Of that number $5.9 million is from the Co-ops for emergency protective measures, debris removal and permanent repairs. Federated REA had 1,266 poles down or damaged that require replacement.

The remaining $390,000 is for county and township roads and culverts.

Officials say the numbers are preliminary and are not exact, but are a close estimate.
