Prairie Lakes Conference To Be Held August 9th-10th
(Okoboji)-- The Prairie Lakes Conference is about to get underway at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center in Okoboji. Lakeside Lab Executive Director Mary Skopec says organizers hope that local and regional citizens will attend...
"One of the things we did this year was apply for a REAP Grant that comes from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Specifically we wanted to focus on getting people that are lake association members or folks that are decision makers, maybe county folks or city folks, to get them to the conference because one of our sessions is really going to focus on lake management strategies, things that we can do to protect shorelines, things that we can do to infiltrate water and really prevent erosion and water quality issues. And because of that the grant was written to provide a scholarship, so the full price of admissions for people that are just kind of a lay person interested in protecting the lakes and there's an application on our website where people can go on a first-come, first-serve basis, and if people want to come out we can help support them so they don't have to dig into their own pockets."
The Prairie Lakes Conference will be held August 9-10th leading up to the Okoboji Blue Water Festival.
