Polaris donates $5K to Okoboji Foundation's Youth in Philanthropy program

The Okoboji Foundation's Youth in Philanthropy program received a large check from Polaris Industries last week.

Foundation President Mary Freiborg explains.  "The committee that gives back to the community decided to give $5,000 to Youth in Philanthropy, and their decision was based on the emphasis that they have on youth and recreation, and strengthening the communities where their workforce and those workforce families live.   So, this partnership with Youth in Philanthropy is really an excellent opportunity for that company to be part of the student learning experience as Youth in Philanthropy looks at what the community needs are, and decides where those fund will go by group decision."

She notes that area non-profits should submit requests in the near future.  "Any non-profit that's interested in making a grant request to the Okoboji Foundation can go online from January 1 through March 1, and submit an application.  Any requests of less than $25,000 will be read by Youth in Philanthropy as community needs grants, and then in March and into early April,  the students will really look at what funds they have available and how they can make the biggest lasting positive impact with their decision."
