(Okoboji)-The Speaker Series continues this week at the Pearson Lakes Art Center, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The Pearson Lakes Art Center's 2018 Speaker Series will feature a talk by Rob Roozeboom, founder of Sheldon's RiseFest this Thursday.
Art Center Office Manager Alesia Johnson says Roozeboom will speak about the growth of the popular festival. "He started it 18 years ago, and this last Father's Day weekend it attracted over 16,000 participants, and he's going to come and speak about his vision the first few years, and why it has grown, and his hopes for the future of the event."
She notes that The Speaker Series will conclude on August 30th, with a talk on the vision of Captain Steve Kennedy regarding the Queen II and the Maritime Museum. "Then the next week, is Tom Kuhlman and Mary Kennedy, and they are going to speak about the legacy of Captain Steve Kennedy, and how he loved the (Iowa) Great Lakes and enjoying sharing its history in tales and memorabilia for anyone who would like to listen. Of course, that will be interesting, he was a big part of the Maritime Museum."
The Speaker Series is free and open to the public Thursday evenings starting at 7 pm at the Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji.
