Osceola County Semi Crash Injures Montana Man
(Sibley)-- A Montana man was injured Tuesday after losing control of a semi he was driving near Little Rock.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says 54-year-old Byron Sharp of Whitehall, Montana was driving a 2007 Volvo and was turning northbound onto Monroe Avenue from 140th Street. Deputies say Sharp failed to make the turn wide enough, with the trailer winding up in the ditch. The rig then rolled, coming to rest on the passenger side.
Sharp was trapped in the cab and had to be extricated by the Little Rock Fire Department. He was then taken by ambulance to the Osceola Regional Health Center with incapacitating injuries.
Authorities say the truck was hauling 6,000 gallons of manure with about 5,000 gallons of it spilling into the ditch.
About $1,000 in damage was also estimated to the shoulder of the road and ditch.
The crash took place around 3:00 pm.
The Iowa State Patrol, Sibley and Little Rock ambulances and the Sibley and Little Rock Fire Departments assisted on the scene.
