Okoboji School Board Votes 3-2 To Ease Some COVID-19 Protocols
(Milford)-- Another area school district is loosening its COVID-19 protocol.
The Okoboji School Board voted three-to-two in a special session this (Mon.) morning to make mask wearing optional in many circumstances. One board member said the revised policy is similar to what has been approved in some other districts in the area...
"I would rather see us just lighten it up very similar to numerous other districts in the area. We eliminate it in hallways where there's not 15 minutes of contact, in lines of less than 15 minutes, and if there's ever a way where we can distance six feet, I know that's not going to happen in your situation but if there are situations where we can do that then masks would be optional at that point. But if they're working in groups or sliding desks together for 12 days, I guess where I'm at right now is to stick with the mask."
The revision also relaxes protocol for quarantining students.
The revised policy in the Okoboji Community Schools will go in effect Tuesday (May 4th). Administrators said they want some time for implementing it.
