Okoboji School Board Hears Update On COVID-19 Mitigation; Discusses Middle School Construction Issues
(Milford)-- Pretty much every school district in the area plans to continue their COVID-19 mitigation strategies, including mask wearing, for the foreseeable future.
The Okoboji School Board discussed the matter at their meeting Monday evening. Superintendent Todd Abrahamson says the decision to continue with the mitigation efforts is based on guidelines for quarantining and contact tracing.
The board also discussed some construction deficiencies at the new middle school, identified on a punch list, that have not yet been corrected. Abrahamson expressed his frustration over the matter, saying he's been in constant contact with the architect, general contractor and subcontractors...
"Our job is for a quality project. That's what we were hired to do for 20 million dollars."
Abrahamson said most of the deficiencies pertain to aesthetics, but he says there are some other issues as well, including one with the building's HVAC system.
Board members plan to tour the facility and look at the problem areas February 16th. They plan to further discuss the issues at a special meeting February 22nd.
