Okoboji School Bd. Adopts Certified Budget For FY 2022; Acts On Proposed Expansion Of Siouxland Conference
(Milford)-- The Okoboji School Board Monday evening adopted the district's certified budget for the 2022 Fiscal Year. Superintendent Todd Abrahamson says the district's tax rate will be reduced to $9.24 per one thousand dollars of valuation...
"We've lowered our tax rate 31 cents from last year and our unspent balance is right at 20 percent."
Abrahamson says the reduction can be largely attributed to an increase in valuation in the district.
The Okoboji School Board also awarded a low bid of $531,313 for roof work at the elementary and high school buildings; and they voted in favor of a proposal to keep the Siouxland Conference at 10 schools. Abrahamson told the board a consensus had been reached among the conference schools not to allow an expansion to take place...
"The conference A-D's and the Superintendents have met and discussed the expansion. We're all on the same page to go with that same recommendation to each school board to approve to remain a 10 conference team made up of the following schools: Boyden Hull, Central Lyon, George-Little Rock, M-O-C Floyd Valley, Okoboji, Rock Valley, Sheldon, Sibley-Ocheyedan, Sioux Center and West Lyon."
The other schools currently in the conference must take similar action in order for the measure to stand. They are expected to do that at their respective school board meetings this week.
