(Okoboji)-The OPA's Clean Water Campaign begins on Wednesday, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:

Okoboji Protective Associations' Clean Water Connection begins June 10

The Okoboji Protective Association's Clean Water Connection gets underway on Wednesday.

OPA President Dr. Mary Skopec says education is a big part of the Association's mission.  "One of our big aspects of OPA is education.  So, really trying to help the Lakes Community understand what they can do to protect their lakes through scholarships for Lakeside students that may be doing research and things like the Clean Water Campaign."

She notes that the public is encouraged to join the Association.  "We really encourage everybody who cares about the Lakes to become a member.  It's not expensive, you can get on our website, okobojiprotectiveassociation.org.  It's simple and easy to do.  There are also brochures at places like Lakeside Lab and you can pick that up if you want to fill it out and mail something in.  Providing that $35 is a way of showing your support for the Lakes.  The more members we have, the more 'oomph' we have when we go to talk to people about, you know, we want to do things that are going to help the Lakes in the long-term, and that membership number says something about the number of people that care what we're going to do with these Lakes for the long-term."

The Clean Water Connection will air on Wednesday afternoons through early August on KUOO and may be found on the Community Tab at exploreokoboji.com.
