(Okoboji)-The Okoboji Blue Water Festival has officially been postponed, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The Okoboji Blue Water Festival which was to be held August 8, has now been postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19 concerns.
Festival Founder Greg Drees explains. "It was really hard to come to this decision, but ultimately, we have the responsibility to provide a safe and clean environment for all of our participants, our exhibitors, our speakers, our musicians, and the thousands of people that would have joined us. In the end, we based it on the science, and, just like a lot of other events, we came to the conclusion we just had to postponed until next summer."
He adds that several of the participants, include the Keynote Speaker, plan to take part next year. "A lot of the exhibitors and speakers and musicians are already committing to August 2021, well over a year in advance, so I think that speaks to the reputation of the Festival. Already, 4 of our 6 panelists, these are state-wide natural resource speakers, 4 of them have already committed. A lot of our exhibitors are already on board, and what's really exciting, is Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who was slated to be our Keynote Speaker, is on board already for next year. He has said, I'm coming to Iowa."
