Tue 3-5-2019

(Sioux City)-- A Storm Lake man has pleaded guilty in Federal Court to one count of receipt of child pornography.

49-year-old James Gailey entered the plea Monday in Sioux City.

Gailey admitted to using a Dropbox account on two separate occasions in October, 2017 and January, 2018 to receive child pornography. Court documents say some of the images and videos involved victims as young as infants or toddlers.

Gailey is being held in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending sentencing. He faces a mandatory minimum of 5 years' imprisonment and a possible maximum of up to 20 years imprisonment along with a $250,000 fine and atleast 5 years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

Federal prosecutors say the case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May, 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
