Numerous Motions Filed In Book Burning Case

(Orange City)-- An Ocheyedan man scheduled to go to trial in Sioux County District court next week for allegedly burning LGBTQ books that were borrowed from the Orange City public library has filed several motions with Sioux County District court.

Paul Dorr of Ocheyedan was charged with 5th degree criminal mischief for the incident that occurred last October.

According to the website, Rescue the Perishing, motions filed with the court monday morning, July 29, are, motion to recuse, calling for judge Lisa Mazurek to recuse herself from the case because Dorr says she’s prejudiced against him.

Other motions include a change of venue, withdrawal of affidavits, motion to continue, amended motion to dismiss, and motion in limine to suppress.

A previous motion to dismiss the case filed by dorr was denied by the court in July. The jury trial is currently scheduled for august 6th in orange city.
