Northwest Iowa Man Pleads Guilty In Lottery Fraud Case

STORM LAKE, Iowa (AP) - A northwest Iowa man has pleaded guilty to theft of a lottery ticket or share.

Twenty-six-year-old Johnny Long Jr., of Sioux Rapids, entered the plea Monday. He's scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 19.

Prosecutors have said Long's girlfriend, Ashley Bosler, was working at a convenience store when she found a winning ticket by scratching off a corner and scanning the bar code that confirmed it was a winner of a $250,000 prize. Prosecutors say she was 20 at the time - too young to play the game - so Long tried to claim it for her.

Her mother, Sally Bosler, had pleaded not guilty to a charge of aiding and abetting, but prosecutors have dropped the charge, saying they didn't have enough evidence to convict her.
