New Wound Healing Center To Open This Summer At Spencer Hospital
(Spencer)-- Construction is underway on a new wound healing center at Spencer Hospital. Hospital officials say two hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers arrived Wednesday and are being installed on the facility's third floor, which is being remodeled to accommodate the new center. It's expected to open this summer.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy delivers 100 percent oxygen to a wound to improve healing time. The therapy is used to treat a variety of conditions, including diabetic foot ulcers, radiation injuries to tissue and bone, certain types of infections, compromised skin grafts and skin flaps, along with some other certain conditions.
Spencer Hospital officials say the project is being done in a partnership with CutisCare, a national wound care management company from Florida.
