Needs Analysis Planned For Okoboji Community Schools
Tue 11-15-2016
(Milford)-- The Okoboji school board last (Mon.) evening heard from the district's Facilities Committee, which is proposing a needs analysis be conducted. Superintendent Todd Abrahamson told the board it would not focus on just the Middle School or one building in particular...
"This is not just about the middle school, the new construction, renovations. Common message is that this firm is going to do an in depth needs analysis of the entire district. That's the first step. And that's what they're presented to the board and the facilities committee will make public, that this is a needs analysis, not a facilities study, not a feasibility study, but a needs analysis of the district."
Abrahamson says the Okoboji Community School District is going to be faced soon with a number of needs other than just the Middle School...
"Because we have other things that are coming up as well, the Elementary is maxed to capacity, our football field is starting to see issues from sink holes, there are several things with our track, so this all needs to be addressed and then prioritize everything."
Abrahamson told the board the committee solicited proposals from 12 different firms and that six responded. Three finalists were selected. Those finalists will present their proposals to the school board and the community in presentations on Sunday, December 4th from 3:00 until 6:00 pm at the Parish Center of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
The school board will make the final selection of the firm that will actually do the needs analysis at its meeting on December 12th.
