More Than 200 People Went Through Test Iowa Site At Dickinson Co. Fairgrounds For The First Few Hours It Was Open Monday
(Spirit Lake)-- The Test Iowa site in Spirit Lake opened Monday and officials say there was a good turnout in people coming through to get tested for COVID-19. Dickinson County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Ehret told the Board of Supervisors today (Tues.) some 254 people went through the site between 12 Noon and 5:00 pm Monday. He says things have been running smoothly for the most part but there has been some confusion with the Test Iowa website where people need to fill out an assessment first before coming to the testing location...
"Out site is considered a clinic and not a test so it's not listed on the screen with all the other sites. You have to click something at the bottom then go to another page and then it's listed there with all of the clinics. I've asked the state to fix that. I don't know if they will or not but that's one of the hangups I've heard that some people have had when they're trying to go through the assessment process."
In addition to residents from Dickinson county, Ehret says the local Test Iowa location has also been receiving people from neighboring Iowa counties...
"It's not just Dickinson county residents. We've seen Emmet county plates, some Clay county plates and other counties, I'm sure, around that's been through there. The next closest sites are in Sioux Center and Storm Lake, so we're getting some of the surrounding counties as well."
The Test Iowa location at the Dickinson County Fairgrounds is open 7:00 am until 5:00 pm through Friday.
The site is being staffed by personnel from Dickinson County Public Health and Lakes Regional Healthcare.
