(Spencer)-- The month of May has been designated as preservation month, with the theme "learning from our past, celebrating the present". Sheriffa Jones of the Spencer Historic Preservation Commission tells KUOO news they're using the month to remind the public of the impact the Great Spencer Fire of 1931 had on the city's architecture. she says they're doing that through the assistance of a traveling exhibit...
The exhibit is on display now through May 11th at the Clay County Regional Events Center; May 11th-18th at the Spencer Hospital lobby; May 18th-26th at the Spencer Municipal Hospital lobby; and May 26th through the end of June at the South Park Mall.
Jones says another special event is being put on in collaboration with the Parker Historical Society...
The slide show will be presented this Thursday, May 7th, and May 21st at 5:30 p.m. each evening at the Clay County Heritage Center.
Jones says another highlight will be open houses at the Spencer Fire Station May 12th and May 26th from 6:45 until 8:00 p.m.
