Minor Injuries Reported In School Bus Crash

Thu 5-9-2019

(Everly)-- A school bus crash late Wednesday afternoon in Clay county resulted in minor injuries.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says 55-year-old Dean Stein of Fostoria was driving the Clay Central-Everly school bus eastbound in the 1200 block of 280th Street. Authorities say Stein lost control of the bus after encountering some muddy road conditions. The bus left the road and went into the south ditch.

Three juvenile passengers on board the bus were looked over on the scene by paramedics, with one of them being taken to Spencer Hospital complaining of pain. No injuries were reported to Stein.

Authorities say no citations were issued due to the road conditions, but they say the crash is still under investigation.

Everly Fire and Rescue, Clay County Ambulance Services and the Iowa State Patrol assisted on the scene.

The incident took place around 4:23 pm.

An estimated dollar amount of damage to the bus hadn't been determined.
