Minnesota COVID-19 Cases Surpass 19,000; State Fair Is Canceled
(St. Paul)-- The number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Minnesota has surpassed 19,000 with 813 new cases being reported today (Fri.).
Locally, Jackson county is up one to 37, Cottonwood county is up two to 61, Martin county held at 124 and Nobles county increased 18 to 1,432.
33 new deaths were reported today (Fri.) in Minnesota, a new single day high. The total number of COVID-19 deaths in Minnesota now stands at 842.
On a related note, it was announced today (Fri.) the Minnesota State Fair has been canceled due to the pandemic. The governing body that oversees the event voted unanimously to take the action after learning that if they were somehow able to put on the fair despite the pandemic, it wouldn't look like a normal fair.
