(Milford)-- No injuries were reported early this (Mon.) morning in a fire in a slough behind the beach at Gull Point State Park. Firefighters were called to the scene across from 2801 Gull Point Place around 5:20 a.m. and found an acre of cattails and some trees that were burning.

Milford Fire Chief Jim Carpenter says it's believed the fire may have re-kindled from a leaf pile that had been burning in the area previously.

Firefighters were on the scene about an hour-and-a-half.

Carpenter says it serves as a reminder as to just how dry things are right now. He adds that if you DO have to burn, to be very aware of your surroundings and have a fire extinguisher nearby.

Milford firefighters also assisted this (Mon.) morning with a two vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and a pickup at the intersection of Highway 71 and 6th Street in Milford. No injuries were reported.
