Tue 6-27-2017

(Milford)-- The Milford City Council Monday evening voted to appoint Bob Clark as Police Chief, effective September 8th. Clark is currently an officer on the department. The city's current Police Chief, Vernon Flack, will be resigning from the position.

The council also last (Mon.) evening approved the reappointment of Jim Carpenter as Fire Chief.

The Milford city council also adopted an amendment to the city ordinance allowing for the sale of fireworks in areas of the city zoned A-C. Sales will only be allowed in permanent buildings which must meet certain specifications. Sales will not be allowed near facilities such as day cares, nursing homes, gas stations, and so on. The only types of fireworks allowed for usage in the city is novelty-type, such as snakes, sparklers and caps. Anyone caught shooting off anything other than that could be subject to a fine of not less than $250 if on private property, or not less than $500 if on public property.
