Milford City Council Discusses Residency Requirements For Police Officers
(Milford)-- The Milford City Council Monday evening voted to relax a requirement for police officers to live within city limits. The issue was brought up at the request of an officer looking to expand his search for housing.
Council members expressed concern over additional mileage being put on police cruisers if an officer lived in one of the outlying communities. Councilman Doug Frederick suggested a radius of a certain mileage be set from the Police Department. Following some further discussion, the council voted unanimously to approve a proposal allowing officers to reside within the Okoboji Community School District.
