Marble Beach Campground To Re-Open Wednesday, July 1st
(Spirit Lake)-- The Marble Beach State Recreation Area will re-open just in time for the upcoming 4th of July.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources announced today (Fri.) the newly revamped campground and facilities will open to campers Wednesday, July 1st.
The popular park on the west side of Big Spirit Lake has been closed the past two years while $3.2 million in improvements were being made to the facility. Amenities include a new shower building, new camp pads, upgraded sewer and electric hook ups and new roads. Campsites have been enlarged to and spaced farther apart and the swimming beach was relocated to the north end of the campground, away from the boat ramp, to improve safety.

The $3.2 million project was funded through federal sources including marine fuel tax revenue and state infrastructure funds.
