Many Voices Choir to present Spring Concert "I Will Sing"
Thu 4-20-2017 Spirit Lake,IA
(Spirit Lake)-Two performances of the Many Voices Choir Spring Concert "I Will Sing" will be presented this weekend, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The Many Voices Choir will present their Spring Concert in Spirit Lake and Estherville this weekend.
Conductor Tim Schumacher says a wide variety of music will be presented. "We start out with a more traditional, classical kind of set. It goes from art songs to a piece by George Frederic Handel, and we've got a spiritual, a little traditional gospel thing, American Gospel piece. And the second half, we're doing some tribute pieces. We have a couple medleys. One is a tribute to Ray Charles, a fun, fun medley, and then the second is musical highlights from the film Forrest Gump, and so there'll be a lot of tunes that are very recognizable out of the 60s and 70s."
He adds that the concert will finish on a whimsical note. "We're doing a couple of pieces by Henry Mancini, Moon River and The Pink Panther, and then we're doing another jazz selection that Ella Fitzgerald recorded, and it's a very up-tempo version of Old McDonald Had a Farm, and so it's really a riot, and we finish up program then with a gospel rock piece called I Will Sing, and that's the title piece for our concert."
Two concerts will be presented. On Friday, at the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake at 7:30 with the second slated for 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Estherville Lutheran Church.
A free will offering will be accepted at both performances.
