Man Escapes Injury In Vehicle Fire

(Peterson)-- A Cherokee man escaped injury Friday evening when a vehicle he was driving caught on fire.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says 36-year-old Donathon Rodgers was driving a 2011 GMC Acadia Danali in the area of 110th Avenue and 440th Street when he smelled smoke, noticed flames coming from under the dash, and pulled over.

Rodgers was able to get out of the vehicle unharmed. It then became fully engulfed.

Fire and rescue units from Royal and Peterson responded to the scene.

The vehicle was destroyed.

The incident took place a little after 10:30 pm.
