Man Charged With Vehicular Homicide In Crash Saturday In Jackson County That Claimed The Life Of A Man
(Jackson, Mn.)-- A Brewster man has now been charged with vehicular homicide in connection with a crash this past Saturday in Jackson county that claimed the life of a Heron Lake man.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Mic Ostgaard of Brewster was charged Monday with criminal vehicular homicide...operating a vehicle with negligence under the influence of alcohol, and criminal vehicular homicide...operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or more. Ostgaard made an initial court appearance Monday and remains held in the Jackson county jail. Bond was set at $5,000 with conditions or $40,000 without.
Authorities allege Ostgaard was driving a pickup early Saturday northbound on Jackson County Road 9, just north of Interstate 90. Deputies say the vehicle left the road. A passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Wyatt Henkels of Heron Lake, was fatally injured in the crash.
