Man Accused Of Stealing Copper Wire From Estherville Business & Trying To Re-Sell It

(Estherville)-- An investigation into a theft of copper wire from an Estherville business has resulted in the arrest of a Hazleton, Iowa man.

Estherville police say they were called shortly after 8:00 am Monday after getting a report that a building in the 300 block of North 2nd Street in Estherville had been broken into and that a large amount of copper wire was missing. Area scrap dealers were made aware of the incident, and around 8:14 am Tuesday, police were contacted by an employee of Estherville Iron and Metal who stated that a suspicious man had been trying to sell some copper wire. Upon further investigation, police arrested 24-year-old Austin Boleyn of Hazleton, Iowa. He was charged with burglary in the 3rd degree and theft in the 2nd degree.

Boleyn appeared before a magistrate and was released on a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
