Man Accused Of Firing Shots At Boater On West Lake Okoboji
(Spirit Lake)-- A Milford man has been charged in connection with an incident late this (Friday) morning on West Lake Okoboji.
The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office says authorities were called shortly before 11:00 am to the area of Brown's Bay on West Lake Okoboji after getting a report of shots fired at a person in a boat in that area.
An investigation into the matter resulted in authorities identifying a suspect in the case, 34-year-old Brandon McQueen of Milford. McQueen, who's accused of firing a CO2 powered gun at the other boater, was located near the city of West Okoboji following a brief search. He was taken into custody and charged with assault.
No injuries were reported in the incident, which authorities say is still under investigation.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Milford, Okoboji and Spirit Lake Police Departments, Iowa Department of Transportation and the Iowa State Patrol assisted in the investigation.
