Man Accused Of Attempted Murder Back In Jail After Having Bond Revoked

            (Spirit Lake)-- A Spirit Lake man charged with attempted murder who was previously free on bond is back in jail after his bond was revoked. Dickinson County Attorney Jon Martin petitioned the court for the revocation of Nicholas Thompson's bond. A judge granted the revocation request.

Thompson is accused of using an 8-inch knife while attacking a man June 22nd of this year in the 900 block of 22nd Street in Spirit Lake. The victim was seriously injured in the incident and was airlifted to a Sioux Falls Hospital. Thompson is also accused of striking a woman during the incident. She wasn't taken to the hospital.

Police captured Thompson after he tried to flee the scene. He was booked into jail on charges of attempted murder, willful injury causing serious injury, going armed with intent and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. Thompson was released from jail August 4th after posting a $32,000 bond. He pleaded not guilty to the charges August 8th. Trial is set for November 7th.

A hearing on the bond revocation is set for 11:00 am Monday, August 28th in Dickinson County District Court.
