Male Suspect in Custody following incident in Spirit Lake

(Spirit Lake)-The Spirit Lake Police Department says officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Lake Street at approximately 12:53 pm on Saturday regarding an alleged assault with the threat of a firearm and a knife.

Upon arrival, officers say the suspect fled the residence and ran to another residence in the 1600 block of Erie Avenue where he barricaded himself inside the residence.  The regional High-risk Entry and Arrest Team (HEAT) was requested and a perimeter was established.

At 2:20 pm, officials say the suspect exited the residence with his hands up and was arrested without incident.

Names have not been released in the ongoing investigation.

The Spirit Lake Police Department was assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office, The Okoboji Police Department, Arnolds Park Police Department, Milford Police Department, the Iowa DNR, the Lakes Regional Ambulance and the HEAT Team.
