Maintenance Work To Affect I-90 Traffic Between Fairmont & Blue Earth
(Fairmont, Mn.)-- Some more road work is about to get underway in the region.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says Interstate 90 from Fairmont to Blue Earth will be limited to two-way head-to-head traffic in the eastbound lanes during the week of May 20th, weather-permitting.
In addition, MnDOT says three overpasses will close this coming Monday, May 13th, for about two months. They include those at 230th Avenue; Martin County Road 59 or 290th Avenue; and Faribault County Road 5, or 345th Avenue.
The overpasses will be closed to allow for the construction of new approach panels, to overlay the decks, make structural repairs, and to improve guardrail.
MnDOT says I-90 bridges haven't had any major updates since they were initially installed more than 45 years ago.
Speeds on those areas of I-90 will also be reduced and periodic ramp closures can be expected for westbound traffic at some of those locations.
The agency says Highway 15 ramps to and from I-90 will close for about three weeks later in the season.
