Local Authorities Warn Of Gift Card Scam
(Arnolds Park)-- Authorities are again warning residents about gift card scams.
Arnolds Park police say they've had reports from people over the last couple of days that have received calls trying to get them to purchase gift cards to pay for goods over the phone. In one instance the caller stated he could lower their Direct TV bill to $80 a month but they had to pay 10 months up front at $800 with E-bay cards. The caller convinced the victim to do it and within minutes of giving the numbers off the back of the gift cards the money was gone.
Authorities remind everyone that if it sounds too good to be true, it's most likely a scam.
