Local Attorney Faces 30 Day License Suspension Due To Alleged Violations Of Professional Conduct
(Spirit Lake)-- The Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board has suspended the license of a Spirit Lake attorney for 30 days for alleged violations of professional conduct.
The Iowa Supreme Court Grievance Commission recommended the board hand down the suspension on Lonnie Saunders.
The recommended suspension was based on a review by the commission which alleged some procedures weren't properly followed over the handling of some probate fees. The commission recommended the 30 day suspension, which the board ruled in favor of in a ruling issued Friday.
The order states that Saunders' license will be automatically reinstated following the 30-day period provided several requirements are met and that there's no objection filed. The suspension went into effect Friday, when the order was filed.
Saunders was admitted to the Iowa bar in 1985. In addition to his private practice in Spirit Lake, he is also an assistant Dickinson County Attorney.
