Latest USDA Crop Report Shows Some Harvest Activity Is Getting Underway In Some Areas
(Undated)-- This week's USDA Crop Progress Report says there were scattered reports of corn and soybeans being harvested in Iowa.
There were also instances of old corn crop being moved into towns prior to harvest. Fieldwork activities last week included harvesting hay and corn silage.
Last week was very dry, which allowed northwest Iowa farmers six days suitable for fieldwork. There were more than six days suitable statewide.
Crop maturity advances across the state. Corn and soybeans continue to progress beyond the five-year average. Corn rated good to excellent was 59-percent, a one-percent drop from the previous week. Soybeans good to excellent was at 62-percent, a one-percent increase from the week prior.
