Lakeside Lab introduces new Science on the Menu Speaker Series

Iowa Lakeside Laboratory is introducing a new public program that includes both speakers and food.

Executive Director Mary Skopec says the series is called 'Science on the Menu'.  "So what we're going to do is, at 6 pm we'll have people come into the Dining Hall on Lakeside Campus, and we'll have a little social appetizer time.  People can talk to each other and then at 6:30 we will start with a dinner.  We're going to really look at doing a fall-themed dinner, and then at 7, we have a very special speaker, Joseph Otto will be coming up to talk about the Lost Lakes of Iowa."

She adds that the Series will be held once a month.  "The October is the Lost Lakes of Iowa.  November will be Pulitzer Prize winning Editor Art Cullen from the Storm Lake Times will come up to talk, and then we're looking at a December Polar Vortexes, or the cold weather that will be coming and talking about how we get those really cold Arctic blasts from up north and so, we are looking at trying to do this once a month, just something fun for people to come out and do and maybe cozy up in our Dining Hall and have a good time."

Reservations are required, with the first deadline on Friday October 19 for the program to be held October 23.
