Laborshed Study Shows Wage Comparisons, Decrease in Labor Force
Tue 4-7-2015
(Spencer)-Results are in from the most recently conducted study of the region's workforce, or Laborshed.
The study was conducted jointly by the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation and Iowa Workforce Development.
It contains information for the corridor's service area of Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet Counties.
According to the report, there are 121,969 workers in the Corridor's Laborshed, or the region from where it draws commuting workers.
Kiley Miller, President and CEO of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation says the report also gives an interesting comparison of wages and benefits among the various economic sectors.
Miller says the report also points to a growing concern: a decrease in the available labor force.
Miller suggests that the reports are recommended reading for area business owners and manufacturers.
Executive summaries of the reports may be found on the Corridor's website at www.lakescorridor.com
