Jackson County Central School Bd. Votes In Favor Of Elementary Reorganization Proposal
(Jackson, Mn.)-- The Jackson County Central School Board Monday evening voted in favor of a reorganization of the district's elementary schools.
No community members were allowed to speak at the session, but several board members explained why they were voting in support of the Grade-A-Like proposal. School Board member Rhonda Moore...
"In moving forward I think it's important that we are a united front for our district. And once again we want everyone to understand that are two separate communities but we are one district. The bottom line is the kids and what we want to provide for them educationally. But we also have to be responsible to our taxpayers, and so moving forward with this Grade-A-Like concept, it's going to give us more help and instruction in the classroom, class sizes will be smaller, and when you look at simple things like that, it is a benefit for our district."
The board voted unanimously to approve the proposal, which will now reorganize both elementary schools in the district starting with the 2019-'20 school year. All students in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade will go to Riverside Elementary in Jackson, while students in grades 4th and 5th will go Pleasantview Elementary in Lakefield.
