Jaci Hermstad Receives First Dose Of Specially Designed Drug In Her Battle Against A-L-S
(New York, NY)-- A Spencer woman received the first dose of an experimental drug Tuesday that doctors hope will slow the progress and perhaps even reverse some of the affects of a rare form of ALS she's suffering from.
Jaci Hermstad's mother, Lori Hermstad, says the first dose of the specially formulated drug was administered Tuesday to Jaci at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Lori said Jaci was resting comfortably following the procedure.
She says Jaci will receive a second dose of the drug in two weeks.
The Federal Food and Drug Administration approved the first round of the drug known as ASO while testing of it continues.
