Iowa State Patrol launches 2017 Windshield Time video campaign in NW Iowa

The Iowa State Patrol in Northwest Iowa is launching their new series of videos called Windshield Time.

Trooper Vince Kurtz with the Public Resource Unit in Spencer says the campaign is aimed at young drivers.  "A troubling statistic that we're seeing, and that is, traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for people under the age of 34, and especially teenagers.  That's where this video service really came from, that, let's get these videos to them in the school, let's get them onto Facebook, let's get them onto Twitter, and have a chance for them to look at positive safety tips to help them make better informed choices about their traffic safety."

He adds that this is the second year for the campaign. "2017 will be the second year that we've been doing this now, but we're still trying to promote it and continue to get it off the ground.  We had 21 school districts sign up to receive these videos last year, and we're continuing to promote it this year."
