Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association to present Rock the Roof: A Tribute to John Senn August 8th
Mon 8-5-2019 243 W Broadway St,Arnolds Park,IA
(Arnolds Park)-The Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association has announced it will hold a special tribute to the Association Co-Founder John Senn, who passed away in July.
IRRMA Board of Directors Vice President Brent Brekke is the Grandson of John Senn:
"We've been just amazed by all the support and outreach, not only from the general community, but from band members and we had the idea of doing a tribute to Grandpa and getting a lot of musicians involved that had performed in his bands over the years. We're going to do some songs from each of those bands, and probably half of our set will be from the DJ & The Runaways original songs as a tribute to my Grandpa, but also as a tribute to Denny Storey who passed away a little over a year ago as well."
He adds that the Tribute will include slides and videos:
"I know that they're putting together some different videos of The Runaways. Of course, there's that famous video of them on the U.S.S. Forrestal, the ship where Dick Clark's 'Where the Action Is' was filmed, and where The Runaways performed. I've also put together some images from different bands. Grandpa was actually in 15 bands over the years, and we'll have a little slide show that will walk through those different bands and show some pictures and all the people that were involved with those over the years."
The Tribute to John Senn will be held at the Rock The Roof Concert Thursday evening from 6-9 pm.
It will be the first Rock the Roof event to be held at the new Roof Garden in Arnolds Park.
The Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association has also announced the "Preserving the Legacy" Capital Campaign which aims to raise funds to ensure that the new Iowa Rock 'n Roll Museum is completed and sustained for future generations. The Association has dedicated the new Museum in John Senn's name.
