Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association To Hold Outdoor Music Events Starting July 2nd

Wed 6-24-2020

(Arnolds Park)-- The Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association has announced it will be holding two outdoor music series starting in July. Executive Director Clay Norris says like everyone else, COVID-19 has them thinking outside the box...Clay Norris01

"The safety of everyone is our utmost concern. Science is telling us that outdoors is better than indoors. So we decided to start a series and it's going to start on July 3rd and we're calling it "Live on Lake Street" and it's actually going to be in the street area right in front of the Roof Garden and the Majestic Pavilion so we're going to block the street off from the corner there at Broadway down to about the nutty bar stand. We're going to ask for a $10 donation, if you will, to come in and our first act is going to be Jason Walsmith of the Nadas, so we're very excited about it."

Norris says Rock Ala Carte will perform the following week, July 10th. He adds they're attempting to reschedule some people that would have played Rock The Roof...Clay Norris02

"We are not going to have Rock The Roof this year indoors. That's another note that we need to make."

Norris says they also plan to hold “Rock The Patio” events beginning Thursday, July 2nd...Clay Norris03

"And on the second we're going to have Boon, Lambert and Wendy play. We've to a nice patio that is right in front of the museum, and the museum will be open at that time for people to be able to go through. And then on July 9th Terry Klein is going to perform on the patio, and again, same story. We're going to have other acts. So pretty much what we're trying to work out between now and Labor Day is that we would have Rock The Patios on Thursday nights at 7:00 and we would have Live on Lake Street on Friday night at 7:00."

Admission for Rock The Patio will be free.

Norris adds the Iowa Rock 'n Roll Museum at Arnolds Park currently remains closed to the public due to COVID-19 concerns. He says they'll be following the park's lead as to when their museums re-open.
