Fri 9-3-2021

(Spirit Lake)-- The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation says they have roughly $100,000 left to raise in their efforts to purchase the last undeveloped land just north of Elinor Bedell State Park on the east side of East Lake Okoboji. Abby Hade Terpstra, the foundation's Director of Philanthropy, says they have also maxed out the Andrea Waitt Carlton Foundation $250,000 challenge grant. Terpstra says 350 households have contributed.

She says they'll continue the push to raise the remaining money needed through the weekend. Monday is the deadline.

Those behind the effort say it's vital that area be protected from any future development to help protect the integrity and water quality of East Lake Okoboji.
