Iowa Lakes Community College to host Financial Aid Workshop October 13
(Emmetsburg)-A free workshop is on tap to assist students with financial aid, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has more:
Iowa Lakes Community College will host a come and go Financial Aid Workshop on Saturday at the Emmetsburg Campus.
Director of Financial Aid, Stephen Pelzer, says parents and students should bring their 2017 tax returns. "We're having students and their parents come in and we're helping them their FASFA, which is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. That's how they determine what you're eligible for as far as federal student aid. So, they'll come in, hopefully have an ID created already, but if they don't, we'll help them create it. We'll use their 2017 taxes. Parents and students, if students worked and filed taxes in 2017, we need theirs, too. We'll help fill it out and hopefully get it submitted for them and they should be good to go then."
He notes that support staff will be on hand to assist with the process. "We'll have a bunch of computers available. There's usually 4 or 5 of us there helping people. Scholarship application is also open and they''ll be able to help students work through some of that, too."
The Financial Aid Workshop will be held in room 330 on the Emmetsburg Campus from 9 to noon on Saturday, October 13.
