(Estherville)-The Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department has postponed their Jazz Camp for this coming summer, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department has postponed the 40th Annual Reggie Shive Jazz Camp which was to be held in June.
Instrumental Music Professor Carol Ayres Stueven says it is a postponement rather than a cancellation. "We're still going to have our 40th Anniversary Camp next year. It's disappointing, but we still know that it will happen again. You know, my Headliners travel from all over the United States, plus we have students from various states and it's just not advised. We just want to make sure everyone stays healthy."
She notes that the Jazz Camp will be posting a series of photos and videos from the last 39 years starting June 14th. "We're going to try to still make the week fun. People can share things with me if they have them, or post them right to the Jazz Camp facebook page. We're going to just try to make sure that it's a fun week. We will have some concerts, the camper concerts, excerpts from some of those concerts and some of the Headliner performances. Just trying to make it still a happy week for all of us."
The camp is one of the longest running Jazz and Big Band education camps in the country.
